Jean-Louis AZENCOTT

Jean-Louis Azencott graduated with his art studies in Montmartre almost 40 years ago and he has from now on devoted his time to painting and sculpture for about 12 years. Exhibiting in France and Mexico as well, his works reflect his inspirations for art deco, bright colours, and pop culture.

The heat given off by the paintings of certain painters strongly animates his sensitivity. He adds a harmonious touch by playing with the colour blue and its different tones. In his work, he pays particular attention to details while respecting proportions.

"Le temps d'un automne" is a painting on canvas made from the acrylic technique. Measuring 73 x 60 cm, this work depicts the face of a woman with an intense gaze and an expressive face. She stares at her observer and fits into an urban geometry, with screaming colors.

The fictional characters greatly inspire the painter, and it is with great enthusiasm that we can see Popeye, a surly and susceptible sailor revealed to the public in the early 1920s. Nostalgia and tenderness for this iconic cartoon character, powerful by his spinach and delicate by his tenderness for his dear Olive, Azencott succeeded once again in bringing us back to childhood, in bringing us simplicity where there is complexity.

Asterix and Obelix are two famous fictional characters in the history of French comics, a true masterpiece of comedy.
